Juan
Ballesta, born in 1935 at Almer¡a (Spain),
published his first cartoons in satirical magazines
of Madrid when he was 18. Working in advertising
and painting, he made long stages in England and
in Scandinavian countries. At 30 he settled in
Milan becoming one of the more quoted illustrators
in Italy for advertising campaigns and for magazines.
In the 80ies he went back to Spain and lives since
then in Madrid as art-director of the magazine
Cambio 16. He draws also for it covers, caricatures,
cartoons. For children, he illustrated other authors'
books but has created his own: Tommy and the elephant,
published in Italy, France, Spain, England. His
best cartoons on couple's life and on cars have
been collected in three albums published in Italy,
Spain and Holland.
